Ok this is a long shot but it's better to try.

The athletes of San Beda need help (no i'm not talking about basketball alone), unlike in Bene where the school has sufficient funds and equiptment to support their athletes- there's plenty to go around. I just talked to my friend from the San Beda track team and they're in dire need of support, and they do not know where to get them.

For those from Bene who want to experience what real Bedan culture is supporting San Beda's athletes is a good start. But we're not talking about financial help alone, any form of support is appreciated. Since everyone's talking about Alabang and Mendiola is under one name now, so San Beda's athletes are of Alabang's as well.

Guys, CAS studs ba lahat kayo? We will celebrate the College of Arts & Sciences 10th Year anniversary themed: ISANG DEKADA NG PAGYABONG. May mga tshirt na ibebenta with the caricature of Lion and Ravens (our former school emblem) bili kayo ha!

Speaking of Freshmen, napakarami nila, puro Freshmen ang laman ang corridors ng St. Bede Hall, out numbered nila ang upperclassmen, kasi ang dami nilang kinick-out(well its for the benefit of the CAS and the school) At their batch is crammed with good looking students pati intelligent din(according to the profs). Kahit nga yung unang batch College of Law, 4 sections agad sila, napakasipag nilang mag-aral, I often see them in the Law Lib, gazebo, caefeteria at nagbabasa nung mga parang encyclopedia..

I hope that with the formal adoption of the school name and other traditions of San Beda, there will be a consistent improvement in the academic standards of the college as well as a shift in attitude in terms of embracing the bedan culture as we know it in Manila.

By the way, based on what i regularly see in the South Expressway, the "San Beda College Alabang" sticker, the one with red and white color and old english yung font, is a big hit, ang daming vehicles meron.

I wonder if Atty Jack De Vera is still teaching Business Law and Taxation in the CAS in Bene, he was teaching there last semester. More power to the law students in Beda Alabang. I am sure Vice Dean Sarmiento and Atty Delson will make sure that the standards in the law school in Alabang is comparable to SBC Manila or at the very least respectable.

It is not newsworthy that Law students (regardless of what school they're studying in) are studious. Law school is a different world. Ika nga ng isang prof sa College of Law (Mendiola), "I will make sure your stint in the CAS (Mendiola) is high school."

another thing, ung, mga law studs.... .... aral nang aral. hehehehe, thier super serious. all they do is read, kahit nag yosi break sa inner eh nag bababsa pa din. o dba, inspiration ang mga lolo mo! unlike us, regular studs, asa library lang para magpa lamig!!! hehehe

tungol naman sa freshmen.... oo nga magaganda sila. at mukhang masisipag mag aral. d lang pala pang show, may substance din.... kaya lang kapag na orient sila sa bene way of life, LAGOT!  I noticed that we are different now. school work wise. this has been my hardest sem yet (partida wala pa midterms) ) (partida ulit, tapos nako mag thesis nyan ha), i guess namumulat na lahat na kaylaingan na tumaas ang standards. pero i think its good, para din satin un.

Successful cya diba? At ngayon lang nangyari ung ganoong klasi ng integration wherein kasama lahat ng CAS studs, I salute SEC for that wonderful project, natuwa din si Fr. Anscar at Fr. Paul.

For the Mendiola brothers, you don’t have to worry with the standards of Bene-CAS, College of Law & Grad. School. Rector Fr. Anscar is appointing right person to administer the good operation of the following departments.

Nami-miss nyo na ba tong kantang to? Hehe la lang!

Bedan Hymn (St. Benedict College)
Ricardo Calsado/ Rev. Benildus Ma. Maramba, OSB

Hail! Alma Mater St. Benedict
You mold our lives of fellowship
From our mentors we learn with pride
That in all things God may be glorified!

Our lives of peace, work and pray’r
The legacy so simple and rare
You give us strength to live and care
Neither evil, nor fear prevails

Challenges we don’t disdain
They make our lives strong and firm
St. Benedict we praise your name
Truly we’ll give you honor and fame

We pledge ourselves wholly to you
To make a stand for what is true
To arm ourselves with weapons of love
For Benedict, our country and God!

Interesting facts about Bene

*San Beda College Alabang was conceived as ‘Benedictine Abbey School-San Beda Alabang’ in 1972 then on 1995 the College of Arts & Sciences was born, it was renamed as ‘St. Benedict College-San Beda Alabang’. Last year, 2004, its secondary name, “San Beda Alabang” was replaced as primary name: ‘San Beda College Alabang’ to give brand for its well deserved identity.

*The Bedan Hymn (Herald the Bedans…) was used as the school hymn from 1972 to 1997, then, onother Bedan Hymn (Hail! alma mater St. Benedict…)  was used in 1997 to 2004, in line with the change of name from St. Benedict to San Beda, the old Bedan Hymn (Herald the Bedans..) was again used.

*Red Lion was used as the symbol of Bedan spirit from 1972 to 2002; Red Raven was used from 2002 to 2004. And in line with the change of name, Red Lion was again adopted.

*The students were called Bedans, eversince the school was founded, but not on 2003 wherein, former Rector Fr. Aloysius Maranan invented the ‘Benean Identity’ (yuck! Ang panget! Tawagin bang ‘Benean’ ung mga taga Bene!), that identity was only used for less than a year, but because of the name change ‘Bedan Identity’ was again used.

*San Beda College Alabang – Grade School was the first school in the Philippines to adopt non graded educational pattern (Level 1 – Level 14, instead of Kinder to Grade 6). The SBCA-GS is also the first school in the Philippines to adopt open classroom educational system, having no walls between classrooms, and a single room is as big as half of a gymnasium. SBCA – GS is also the first school to have one-of-a-kind Butterfly Garden inside the campus.

The one-of-a kind Media Laboratory for AB Communications & Media Studies takes pride in its latest radio-televition facilities for actual broadcast and film production. SBCA-CAS is one of the only four schools (La Salle, San Beda Alabang, Ateneo, Miriam) in the Philippines to offer AB International Studies.

*San Beda College Alabang – College of Law and SBCA–Graduate School was instituted this SY 2005-2006, it is an extension course of San Beda College, Mendiola, Manila, wherein same curriculum and standards were implemented, and the programs were extended as a part of the CHED’s requirement for a University Status.

Pupunta ulit me ng Bene, maghahanap ako ng chicababes!

We were the last HS batch in Bene who sang the original Bedan Hymn so it was no hard transition for me when I moved to San Beda. Sobrang kadiri yung pumalit na hymn... we found it so TH. And what was the outcome of it? It was going to be trashed din pala hehehe bumalik din pala sa orig. hehehe laking tawa namin lahat.
