The statement is not to bash, it's just an observation.

Pilosopo,
Wala kang pagkakamali. You have varid reasons naman before when you were apprehensive with the Bene to Beda thing.

The "Hail Alma Mater St. Benedict" hymn, just from the intro alone, reminds me of a certain hymn from a certain green school. I think the hymn was a pathetic attempt to break away from San Beda, in which they have failed. I remember the ORIGINAL Bedan Hymn was taught to us in Bene as early as prep.

well...since nursery pa ako sa bene. di pa nagagawa ni calsado yang hail alma mater na yan..herald d bedans na ang kinakanta. di ko tlga malaman kng bkt nagkaganito ang kultura ng mga studyante sa bwat eskwelahan. cguro kng maayos ang panunungkulan ng mga tao noon wala sigurong gap between the bedan communities. i agree we have differences.pero 2 years na ako nsa mendiola... i feel im with my family again with a 'twist'. *naks drama*

Still, the "Hail" of Bene is much better than the nursery rhyme sounding "Hail" of the that certain school somewhere near St. Scho. oopsss..hehehe...Pero syempre iba talaga ang Bedan Hymn. Hindi nursery rhyme. ..nyak nyak nyak..

It was indeed a strategic blunder to create a separate and distinct identity for the school in Alabang.

Oh well, they are now San Beda College Alabang.

Sa gitna ng guard house may fountain with the head of a lion. It's funny to see the water coming out of the lion's mouth, but it's even funnier when the effect looks like he's urinating through the mouth. hehehe

Here's another trivia for you folks. Back in 1996 during the ground breaking ceremonies of the College Department, nagkaroon ng series of events where a group of HS students were suddenly "possessed," sabi nila may nagambalang entities when they started digging the foundations.

Then one day, an entire school day was drawn to a halt when all of these students, (including a friend of mine) started acting strange the same time. It completely freaked out the entire high school, all of the students where in the assembly watching these group of girls getting "possessed"- the rosary was suddenly prayed through the speakers. Yung English teacher namin who is a Catholic charismatic El-Shadai-ish sort of person (opening prayers namin nun with her last for 5 minutes at times hehehe) became an instant exorcist. The next day, St. Benedict Medals were placed in every door of all the classrooms. But it was only in college that I knew what the medal was for. Too bad no one knew about the Latin prayer in the medal.

The scene looked like it came out of a Maganda Gabi Bayan Halloween Special.

Warning!

Inspiring stories of some CAS students from Prof. Anita Obispo, during her term as the first CAS dean.

*taken from Memento Vivere (CAS 10th year anniversary Special Edition), the official Literary Folio of The Bedan Herald.

Fidel Raymond C. Cabral, the first ever CAS Valedictorian and Cum Laude, was not every other student. His differences and uniqueness were not obstacles that would hinder his success. Through the school’s guidance and the understanding of professors such as Prof. Obispo, Cabral rose above his autism and proved to himself and everyone around him that – our flaws do not define who we are; rather, what defines us is how we strive despite our limitations.

His unexpected achievements attracted more critical eye but the bad were overcome by the good as others soon shared Prof. Obispo’s sentiments on this matter. The issue became a media fest with networks and newspapers both local and international seeing the goodness in setting aside the differences and finding that an individual’s uniqueness is what drives this world towards development.

Saturnino Abinan, the succeeding CAS Valedictorian and chosen as one of the top 10 students of the Philippines during the year 1999, was another of those unfortunate students who had to fight his way to the pinnacle. Having been paternally orphaned at such a young age, he was forced to relocate from the University of the Philippines to St. Benedict College in order to do his part in keeping his family’s head above the water. Nonetheless, he was able to garner an impressive attainment and would have been the school’s very first Summa Cum Laude if it weren’t for the disqualification policy on transferees. For this matter, he received the St. Anselm Award for Academic Distinction and he is so far the only recipient of St. Benedict Award (Rector’s Award and the highest award given to a graduate).

Varda Cardema, the face that has launched the Bedan name as sophisticated and outstanding individuals was a timid and aloof but beautiful woman nonetheless. With her more shy nature, nobody expected her to gain the title of Ms. NCRAA ’98, but this once proves that thing is never as they seem.

I have also a story of Fidel Cabral taken from a Values Education book of my beautiful sister Clareen, senior student from Colegio San Agustin – Makati (as she wants me to acknowledge her this way). Read it! It’s very inspiring!

Yeah it's Mrs. Marzan alright. hehehe she was ok for us I guess... kakaantok lang kapag magturo. Saka she hates seeing guys holding fans in the classroom, it's not "masculine" daw. hehehe But we can't help it ang init sa classroom, and it was a normal sight seeing guys carrying fans of their own in school. Ala-autograph book ang itsura. hehehe

There was a funny event that happened to this wall before we graduated in high school. The sign "St. Benedict College" was newly put on that wall, a lot of us were still irked by the name. Then one day nagtaka kami why some of the gold letters were missing, i thought they put it down to change it. Then news went around the high school that a group of sudents took the letter down. hehehe la lang trip lang nila... kasi naman sarap gaguhin ang school admin sometimes. Ayun we found out some of them were my classmates pala. hehehe Ok trip nila no? hehehe

but look now, nobody would dare bring down the new sign. Maganda na kasi ang pangalan eh hehehe

Hehehe! I heard that story also, from our SEC president James Tolentino, he is batch 2001 of Bene High... the latter "B"(correct me if i am wrong) was taken out in the newly constructed facade.

She's a hotie! I remember her face pa rin! Maganda cya, at mukhang matalino, I often see her carrying bulk of books ang handouts... Sa may Dom Venard's garden(It was refurbished kasi by Dom Venard Bacarra, OSB, that why we called it "DOMS GARDEN") na lang sa tapat ng St. Bede hall
